Lost participation to final tournament

The man from the picture is Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston. He lost the participation to final FIFA World Cup because he was prevented from physically assaulting coach Milovan Rajevac after he was axed from the Black Stars final 23-man squad for the World Cup next month.

An incensed Kingston had to be held back by the vice president of the Ghana FA Fred Pappoe as he went for the coach with an arm raised and a fist clenched.
But Kingston verbally attacked the cowering coach repeatedly with in a very loud and angry outburst, an insider told MTNFootball exclusively.
“I swear to God you are not a good coach. You don’t know anything about football, you stupid man!,” Kingston yelled in the foul-mouthed explosion which last over five minutes.

Kingston’s exclusion has shocked fans because he was tipped to make the final squad after missing the 2006 tournament because of suspension.

However, the Serbian manager was not spared the verbal attacks of the midfielder after his axing from the final squad on Saturday, accusing the tactician of being a bad coach.

2000 dollars lost by Colombian team

The Colombian football national team, who did not qualify to play in the World Cup, arrived in South Africa on Monday. Last night they lost 2 - 1 in a friendly against the tournament hosts at the flagship Soccer City stadium.

But the worst news is players have been robbed so the team lost about 2000 dollars on Tuesday after players were targeted at their hotel in Johannesburg.
Two female workers at the five star Hyde Park Southern Sun were arrested for allegedly taking the cash from the players' suitcases after they arrived to play two international friendly matches against South Africa and Slovenia.

Today a Fifa spokesman said the security arrangements in place for the Colombian team's visit were not the same as those that had been arranged for World Cup teams.

Bank access is lost when Brazil football team is in match

The World Cup runs from June 11 to July 11 and Brazil team is one of the favourites. Brazil's passion for football is also in a very high position.

For this reason a statement of Central Bank of Brazil said that the country's banks can close when the national team is playing games in the World Cup in South Africa.

The measure is not only to allow football-mad bank staff to catch the live broadcasts, but also "to avoid security lapses" in the banks and armored cash transport, according to the central bank.

A lost match for German team?

On Friday, The Times reported that the Velmore Grande Hotel had not received approval from the Tshwane municipality. The hotel has reportedly invested 80 million rand (10.8 million US dollars) to meet the standard required by world football’s governing body FIFA.

The problem is the Velmore Grande Hotel, in Erasmia, Pretoria, has been booked by the German football team for the duration of the World Cup.

There are rumors that the establishment has not received certain approvals from the South African authorities, because its owner, Emi Keyser, made renovations with a construction company that would have hired workers illegally. The police and national defence force, along with the National Intelligence Agency, had also raised "safety concerns" about the hotel's location.

Despite of this unconventional situation, Germans not leaving their hotel The German football spokesperson Harald Stenger said "We have a contract with Match Hospitality, which is all that matters. It isn't necessary for us to go looking for another hotel now, because we are going to arrive on June 7, nice and ready, which is what our contract says. The rest is the concern of the officials in South Africa."

FIFA called the matter "an ongoing one" and its statement says "no indication that the team will move from the Velmore Hotel".

First match : England vs Black mambas

The English players will be banned from fields after dark because near their World Cup base there are a lot of deadly snakes. Killer pythons, spitting cobras, puff adders and black mambas are known to be on the hunt around the Bafokeng Sports Campus in Rustenburg. The electric fence around the base can stop pythons, but not smaller poisonous species.

The local medical team is prepared for emergencies. Anti-venoms doses are already stocked. The black mamba is a particularly deadly snake, with enough venom in a bite to kill several people.

About Bafana Bafana

Although Bafana Bafana (the name of South Africa football - soccer team) has made two appearances in the FIFA World Cup, they have not made it past the first round.

The South Africa first appearance was in France 1998, six years after they had been readmitted to the global football family. Despite a 3-0 drubbing to France in their opening game, they went on to draw against Denmark and Saudi Arabia.

The second appearance was in Korea/Japan 2002 and it was expected to be an opportunity for Bafana Bafana to step up to the next level but, unfortunately, they flattered to deceive, crashing out after the group stage despite beating Slovenia 1-0 for their first-ever FIFA World Cup win.
