Gearman team and lost anthem

All eyes will be on the players' lips ahead of the last warm up against Bosnia on Thursday at 8.30pm. The German paper Bild reveled just six players sang before the last international.

A row has broken out over whether Germany's World Cup stars should be forced to sing the national anthems before games.

The coach Joachim Löw told Bild yesterday: "Our guys totally identify with the national team and with Germany. But you also need to think of their origins".

Löw meant that many of his squad members were born in Germany but have roots in other countries, including Like Lukas Podolski whose family comes from Poland, Sami Khedira (Tunisia), Mesut Özil and Serdar Tasci (Turkey), Dennis Aogo (father from Nigeria) or Jerome Boateng (father from Ghana).

Their hearts also feel for another country - and so they pass on singing the anthem.
